hustle grind:
hustle grind is an experimental synth-pop-punk band. Their theatrical set tells the story of their personal journeys through existential doubt and political disillusionment, towards a life-affirming place of embodiment and agency. Their songs are performative, rhythmic, chaotic, cathartic, honest, vulnerable – allowing space for something raw, visceral and ungovernable to be born in its place.
soontoexpire:
The good side of weird. The black-and-white era opera extravaganza. The sound you’d hear if your grandmother were spiked with acid before her cabaret show. Going against the time itself by reviving what was once lost.
The Dutch/Lithuanian project Soon to Expire creates hauntology (the idea that elements from the social and cultural past return as a ghost) based on recordings from the 1920s. The typical crackle of outdated sound recording technologies hides in cheerful, usually danceable music, which the couple further manipulates and lets the noise flood in. Thanks to theatrical opera vocals, they descend into a distinctive cabaret full of fantastic revelations and dark hints.
